OtterBee's Farm & Fungi, owned and operated by Rich & Kathleen Dickson, allows us to combine our two main passions in life - farming in the Spring and Summer, and harvesting wild mushrooms in the Fall and Winter!
Fortunately, we live in Brookings-Harbor, Oregon - known locally as the "banana belt" of coastal Oregon - and the temperate climate here in our region makes both farming and wild-harvesting possible. We rarely have snow in the winter, we rarely get above 70 degrees in the summer, and we get an average of 80 inches of rain (mostly in the winter), so everything grows well here - plants and mushrooms!
OtterBee's Farm & Fungi belongs to the grassroots organization "Certified Naturally Grown". We farm using a chemical-free, intensive, raised-bed system, and grow mostly cool-season crops, such as greens, peas, root crops, berries (raspberries, marionberries and strawberries), brassicas and the like.
We feel lucky to be able to offer such a wonderful variety of locally-grown fresh fruits and vegetables and locally-harvested wild mushrooms. We believe we have been entrusted with the land we live on now, and vow to live as simply as possible. And we look forward to a life of farming and harvesting for many years to come
