Business Detailed:  The Kern Farmers Market Association was founded in 1980 by a group of local citizens and farmers. The first president/market manager was retired Kern County Agricultural Commissioner Jim Stockton. Jim still participates occasionally in the market selling fresh cut flowers. During the first few years the Association operated seasonal markets only in Bakersfield.
