Black Ankle Vineyards is an estate winery, producing dry, European-style wines from grapes that are all sustainably grown on our Frederick County, MD farm. We have been growing grapes since April 2003, but just began selling wine in October 2008. Our first two vintages of Crumbling Rock, a classic Bordeaux-style red wine, have each won the Maryland Governor's Cup as Best MD Wine in the respective years.
