Sterling Meadows Hatchery is a very small, family-owned and operated hatchery in Sterling, located about 12 miles east of Soldotna, Alaska. Opened in Spring 2008, we are now in the full swing of things with baby chicks and eggs. We currently raise: Heavy breeds - Light Brahmas, Blue/Black/Splash Orpingtons, Silver Grey Dorkings, Red Dorking, Red/Black Sexlinks, Delawares, Ameraucanas. Gamebirds: Coturnix (Texas A&M) and Bobwhite quail, chukar partridge, ringneck pheasants. Turkeys: Bourbon Reds (smaller heritage breed, excellent flavor) Ducks: Mallards (2010 only) We do have farm fresh chicken eggs for sale by the dozen (current schedule is full, with a waiting list), and by next spring we hope to have lots of chicks available to anyone who wants to start a flock of their own.
