About

Two Small Farms is a collaboration between High Ground Organics and Mariquita Farm in Watsonville and Hollister. We grow organic specialty vegetables, greens, strawberries, flowers, and herbs for our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members in Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Francisco counties, and Silicon Valley.

Two Small Farms is the cooperative marketing effort by Julia Wiley and Andrew Griffin of Mariquita Farm and Jeanne Byrne and Stephen Pedersen of High Ground Organics. Both farms found themselves "Too Small" to effectively compete in the roller derby match that is the modern model for organic produce retail so they joined forces in a community supported agriculture program that serves the Monterey and San Francisco Bay areas.

High Ground Organics farms the cool coastal bluffs of Watsonville and specializes in berries, flowers, and cool weather crops. Mariquita Farm grows in the warmer inland region of the Bolsa inbetween Hollister and Gilroy and takes responsibility for heat-loving crops like tomatoes, peppers, melons, cucumbers, and basil. Together the farms send out a mixed box of vegetables, greens, and fruits each week with flowers for those who wish.

Additionally Mariquita Farms products can be found at their farm stand at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market each Saturday. High Ground Organics sells their products at the Mountain View market on Sundays, the Watsonville market on Fridays (except maybe a couple of months in the winter) and their produce stand at Highway 1 and Highway 129 at the Redmond House (limited winter hours, check their website for more details.)
